When I was 30, I traveled overseas for the first time. I caught the travel bug, nurtured by marrying into an international family and spending much of my career working for an international non-profit organization. Business travel was hard work but a camera was always at hand. The travel continues; watch this site for future adventures.

Uganda
Following a 2022 visit to Uganda, I vowed to return with Yosi to see more of this lush, beautiful country. In 2024 we set out on our adventure, a three week photo safari. We covered much of the country but look forward to returning again. Uganda is welcoming and not as well known to tourists.

Thailand
I was working most of the time in Bangkok during the Rotary Convention, but then had an opportunity to stay with some friends in Pak Chung. We stopped at Ayutthaya on the way there. Mid-day is not the best time for photos but the images are still striking. Elephant rides are no longer considered acceptable

Sweden
While in Uppsala for the annual Rotary Peace Center graduation presentations, Yosi and I managed a quick trip to Stockholm.

Norway
We were fortunate enough to have been invited to Norway by Per Magne and Ingrid Berget, who I have gotten to know over the years through Rotary activities. Their generosity in opening their home, bringing us to the family cabin in the mountains, and orchestrating an extraordinary two weeks of sightseeing gave us an experience

New Zealand
New Zealand is a quick plane ride from Australia, so following a business trip to Melbourne and Brisbane, it made sense to take advantage of the proximity. What a glorious, beautiful country! Nice people, good food. Sheep. Kiwis. Opossums. Birds. And stunning fjords. Lord of the Rings memorabilia everywhere.

Kenya
In 2019 I traveled to Kenya for Rotary Day at the UN in Nairobi. Of course I found time for a brief safari in the Masai Mara. In 2024, I returned with Yosi to experience this remarkable, resilient country. 2019 Photos The Animals of Kenya – 2024 29 orphaned baby elephants live at the Sheldrick

Japan
Abby McNear, Adam Doty and I headed to Japan after the Rotary Convention in Seoul. Very people speak English but Adam spoke a tiny bit of Japanese, enough to get us where we wanted to go. Tokyo was fascinating but Kyoto stole my heart.

Istanbul
My husband, Yosi Asseo, was born and raised in Istanbul. His Sephardic Jewish heritage connects him back to 1492, when the Ottoman Empire opened its doors to this persecuted minority. We have been going back at least once a year for most of our marriage, as we wanted our son Daniel to connect to his

Germany
Thanks to Rotary International, I traveled to Conventions around the world. Hard work but we always managed to find some fun. Above: At the Hamburg Convention with Carol Pandak, Marty Helman and Abby McNear.
